The 5’s Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio closes a karmic chapter. What patterns, unhealthy obsessions, and entanglements have you released in the past year and a half? What needs to be cleared away?
Here we are at the tail end of Eclipse season, and tail end is truly an apt way to describe it. Allow me to elaborate. Eclipses are related to the Lunar Nodes in Astrology. In Vedic astrology specifically, the North Node is referred to as Rahu, and the South Node, Ketu. The North Node, Rahu is the head of the dragon .It is what we’re moving towards. It’s our destiny. The South Node, Ketu, is the tail of the dragon. It’s what we are meant to release and not get stuck in. (Go back to my last post about the Aries Solar Eclipse to learn more about Eclipses.)
The South Node, or dragon’s tail, has been in Scorpio since January 19, 2022 and will remain there until July 17, 2023, when the North Node moves to Aries, and the South Node shifts to Libra. Since last year, you may have observed major endings and conclusions on a global scale and in your personal life when it comes to Scorpio themes of sexuality, shared resources, death, transformation, obsession, and psychological depths. As for beginnings and what we’re moving towards, it’s presence, a reverence for nature, taking inventory of our personal possessions and values, and grounding into pleasures of life taken in with the senses.
This Scorpio Lunar Eclipse is quite close to where the Scorpio Solar Eclipse occured back in November 2022. Something’s being reactivated here. Perhaps you had an inkling of what you needed to release back then — obsessions or attachments. Now is the time to bravely let them go.
As with any Eclipse, I don’t recommend making any rash decisions or taking actions with haste. This is a time to sit back and observe, especially when it comes to what needs to end and what’s holding you back. Pluto’s influence will help with that. Squaring the North and South Nodes, it will help you focus on where you need to go, adjust your strategy, let go of some aspects of your present comfort zone, and prompt you to assert your willpower.
The ruler of Scorpio, Pluto, is also forming a square to Jupiter in Aries. There’s a great potential for achievement, but be mindful of taking on too much or getting carried away with a certain idea. Dreamy Neptune enhances our desire to look into the hidden depths of ourselves and can bring on profound, revealing experiences.
Mars’ position should be noted as well, being the traditional ruler of Scorpio. Currently in Cancer, it’s forming a sextile to Uranus in Taurus, which could bring restlessness and impatience, the desire for new experiences, unpredictability, and the ability to break out of a rut.
Mars is also squaring with Jupiter in Aries which can make us feel more energetic and crave expansive experiences. Any energy directed towards your future rather than present indulgences will be fruitful here. The Moon in Scorpio forms a trine to Mars in Cancer which supports you in asserting yourself, using your emotions to your advantage with the added bonuses of courage, confidence, and energy.
While this is not the time to make decisions (especially as we’re still in the midst of Mercury Retrograde), it is a great time to let go. Clear the space you need so that you’re less held back on your path ahead. Reflect on the unhelpful obsessions and attachments that have been emerging in your life, especially since last January, and allow yourself to let go of them for good. You can look to the house where 14°57’ of Scorpio is situated in your chart for more clues.
